Home Abstract Corp. to host free CLE webinar on title insurance
Brooklyn Daily Eagle
In an attempt to demystify the complexities surrounding title insurance, Home Abstract Corp., in partnership with First American Title Insurance Company, is set to host a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to noon.
The seminar, titled "Title Insurance: Fact or Fiction," will be led by Antonio Vozza, Esq., the New York regional underwriting director/counsel at First American Title Insurance Company and an alumnus of St. John's University School of Law. Vozza, with his extensive experience in the field, will guide participants through the intricacies of what is and isn't covered under a title policy, exploring both the scope of policy coverages and the critical benefits title insurance brings to property transactions.
Title insurance plays a pivotal role in protecting property owners and lenders from potential future claims related to undisclosed title defects at the time of sale, such as fraud, liens, and encumbrances. With two primary policy types available — the lender's policy and the owner's policy —understanding the coverage specifics can significantly impact the legal handling of real estate transactions.
The webinar aims to clarify the common misconceptions surrounding title insurance, providing legal professionals with a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of real estate transactions confidently. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the due diligence process in title searches and the insurance underwriting that follows, shedding light on the hidden risks that even the most diligent searches may not uncover.
