Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

MIAMI, Florida, Feb. 23 -- Greenberg Traurig, a law firm, issued the following news release:

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. and its attorneys received seven recognitions in the Daily Business Review's (DBR) 2024 Florida Legal Awards. These annual awards recognize distinguished members of the Florida legal community.

All honorees and finalists will be celebrated -- and the winners announced -- at the DBR's annual awards event on April 4 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami.

Fred E. Karlinsky, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig's Global Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice Group, will be honored in the "Distinguished Leaders" category. Shareholders Robert "Bobby" Kane III and Daniella Silberstein will be recognized as honorees in the "On the Rise" category for large law firms.

"We believe our strong showing in this year's awards program is a testament to the trust our clients continually place in us to provide exceptional service and deliver solutions that exceed expectations," said Greenberg Traurig Senior Chairman Matthew B. Gorson. "We are particularly excited that the firm is a finalist for the inaugural 'Law Firm of the Year' category. These recognitions reinforce Greenberg Traurig's position as a leading firm in South Florida and beyond."

A shareholder in Greenberg Traurig's Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices, Karlinsky is a recognized authority on national insurance regulatory and compliance issues. He has over 30 years of experience representing insurance companies, reinsurers, and a wide array of related entities on regulatory, transactional, corporate, and governmental affairs matters. Last year, he worked with state legislators to create a regulatory framework that could assist insurers in managing the inherent risks of operating in Florida. He simultaneously helped to grow the market, advising start-ups like Tampa-based Slide Insurance. He chairs the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Florida State University College of Law, where he also chairs the Board of Visitors.

Kane, a West Palm BeachLitigation shareholder, focuses his practice on general commercial litigation, products liability, real estate, construction defect matters, and general corporate matters. He has worked on hundreds of cases in state and federal courts nationwide, including helping to represent C.R. Bard in multidistrict litigation involving pelvic mesh implants. He also helped clear the way for developer Copperline Partners to acquire Palm Beach's Ambassador Hotel and a nearby property, resulting in a combined landmark sale in Palm Beach for $152 million. Kane is also a longtime advocate and former advisory board chair for the West Palm Beach chapter of Best Buddies.

Silberstein, a MiamiCorporate shareholder and co-chair of Greenberg Traurig Miami Women's Initiative, counsels a broad range of public companies, private equity sponsors and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, as well as on general corporate and securities matters. In the past year, she represented U.S. Bitcoin Corp. in its $990 million merger with Hut 8 Mining Corp., and represented Ardurra Group, Inc. and Round Table Capital Partners in the sale of Ardurra to Littlejohn & Co. LLC. Dedicated to giving back to her community, Silberstein currently serves on the board for Camillus House.

Pena, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig's Latin America Practice and shareholder in the firm's Miami office, has broad experience in the U.S., Latin America, and Spain, representing strategic investors and private equity funds in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, SPAC deals, and other transactional matters. He has worked with some 100 associates and dozens of shareholders, helping to grow their careers. Pena also oversees the firm's International Law Clerk Program, which brings attorneys from Latin America and other parts of the world to work in a U.S. Greenberg Traurig office for 12 months, exposing them to Big Law in the U.S. He has helped expand the program from its Miami-office origin to a broader national and international platform.
