GOP Sabotage Drives Health Care Premiums Higher in FL and IN

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, June 26 -- The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee issued the following news release:

Florida and Indiana are the latest states hurt by Republicans' health care sabotage, as nine insurers in Florida announced premium increases - with one insurer asking for a 30 percent premium hike - and insurers in Indiana specifically citing Republican actions as the reason for their increases, which are reaching as high as 10 percent.

These hikes are the latest in a series announced since the Trump Administration and Republicans' actions such as allowing shoddy, short-term plans that jeopardize coverage for pre-existing conditions and their lawsuit to make pre-existing condition coverage protections unconstitutional.

"Thanks to their repeated efforts to sabotage the health care system, Republicans have succeeded in making care more expensive and less accessible for Americans, and Florida and Indiana's rate increases are just the latest example," said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman David Bergstein. "Unfortunately for Rick Scott, former state Representative Braun, and every single Republican Senate candidate, health care remains the most important midterm issue and voters will hold them accountable for putting party and political benefit ahead of their care."
