Giving Thanks to our Nation’s Heroes: Drexel Hamilton and Combined Insurance Donate $20,000 to Support Wounded Servicemen and Women

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Drexel Hamilton, a service-disabled veteran owned broker-dealer, and Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health, and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, have collaborated to support our nation's heroes with a $20,000 donation to Luke's Wings, a non-profit organization that provides transportation to family members of wounded servicemen and women who are either hospitalized or undergoing rehabilitation. At a recent New York City event, representatives from each organization, many of whom are veterans themselves, met to celebrate the resilience of the men and women who have been injured in combat and present the donation to Luke's Wings.

The two companies have come together, united in their commitment to supporting our nation's military veterans. The joint donation given to Luke's Wings was the start of their collaborative efforts to partner on veteran issues, veteran hiring, and other opportunities that would positively impact veterans.

"It is in Drexel Hamilton's DNA as a firm to not only financially support, but provide career opportunities to our military veterans. Luke's Wings is very much aligned with our dedication to wounded service members in particular," said James Cahill, President of Drexel Hamilton. "We are extremely grateful to individuals who put their lives on the line so that we can continue to enjoy the freedoms of this country. And we are honored to have joined forces with Combined Insurance to recognize our veterans' sacrifices and give back to the veteran community."

The donated funds will go to providing transportation to families, so they can visit their service member during their hospitalization and rehabilitation. By purchasing travel agency services, plane tickets and other travel tickets for family members, Luke's Wings provides an immediate and invaluable service to the families of servicemen and women, while also helping to encourage and motivate the service member's recovery. The Drexel Hamilton and Combined Insurance donation will specifically go to flights for over 40 family members to ensure "No Soldier Spends the Holidays Alone."

Combined Insurance was recently recognized for the second consecutive year as the nation's number one Military Friendly® Employer by Victory Media's G.I. Jobs Magazine. The leader of the military veteran initiative at Combined Insurance, Art Kandarian, Senior Vice President, Business Development, stated, "I am proud to partner with another veteran-focused company, Drexel Hamilton, to give back to veterans through such an important organization as Luke's Wings. Earlier this year, Combined Insurance donated to Luke's Wings, and I am pleased to be in the position with Drexel Hamilton to provide even more flights to unite wounded servicemen and women with their loved ones."

As of 2015, Luke's Wings has raised more than three million dollars and has provided support to more than 2,300 wounded warrior families and veterans in hospice care.

"It's been great to see the impact Luke's Wings has had on so many military families over the years, which is due in part to companies like Combined Insurance and Drexel Hamilton. Organizations like these two are truly engaged in the active military and veteran community and aim to make a difference beyond their everyday work," said Fletcher Gill, Chairman of the Board, CEO and Co-Founder of Luke's Wings. "The funds provided will help us touch more lives, especially during this holiday season."
