GetInsured Helps Residents in Connecticut and Washington State Make Strategic Health Insurance Decisions

PR Newswire

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- GetInsured today announced that two leading state-based marketplaces – Access Health CT and Washington Health Benefit Exchange – will leverage its award-winning decision support tools to aid consumers in selecting optimal health insurance plans.

GetInsured's technology allows the state-based marketplaces to simplify the enrollment process by defining insurance terminology each step of the way, and ranking plans based on stated consumer needs, including prescription drug and provider search to determine plan coverage. GetInsured's decision support tools, which have been deployed successfully on the Your Health Idaho and Covered California exchanges for more than two years, will be rolled out in Connecticut and Washington state during the open enrollment season starting in November.

"Simply put, people need help in selecting their health insurance plans, and that has been GetInsured's mission since our inception," said Chini Krishnan, CEO and co-founder of GetInsured. "Leveraging our more than a decade of experience in the health insurance market, GetInsured has created shopping tools that truly enable consumers to find plans that best serve their needs, and support the goals of state-based exchanges, like those in Connecticut and Washington, to implement technology that augments their enrollment processes."

Consumers need to have a better understanding of the plan they select, as choosing the wrong plan can have negative financial impacts. With rising costs of healthcare, consumers need more visibility into their health plan options to ensure the plan they buy best fits their needs and budget.

"State-based marketplaces have an obligation to connect consumers with innovative ways of learning about key aspects of health insurance to better assist them with enrollment," said Vincent Barrailler, CIO of the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. "The Washington Health Benefit Exchange's digital efforts and, in particular, our new decision support system, make significant strides in providing consumers an enhanced ability to understand insurance terms, recognize when their providers are in-network, and connect with plans that best match their individual needs."

"Shopping for health insurance should not be an unpleasant experience for consumers. Continuing as leaders in health insurance ecommerce, state-based marketplaces can assist the residents of their states and alleviate their anxiety, by effectively using decision support systems," said Jim Wadleigh, Access Health CT's CEO. "We selected GetInsured because of its vision and leadership in providing innovative technology that help us improve customer experiences and services for the people we serve. Our partnership with GetInsured enables us to both deliver the support the people of Connecticut are asking for now, and prepare for additional advances in the future."

Open Enrollment for 2018 begins November 1, 2017. Residents of Connecticut and Washington state can shop for new plans using the decision support tools at www.accesshealthct.com and www.wahealthplanfinder.org respectively. Consumers who do not live in either state can shop using GetInsured's decision-support tools at GetInsured.com.
