GEICO names Rick Hoagland vice president of New York operations

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- GEICO has named Rick Hoagland vice president of its New York regional operations. GEICO is the largest private passenger auto insurer in New York.

In 2009, Hoagland was elected assistant vice president of claims for GEICO's Midwest operations in Macon, Ga., and assumed the role of assistant vice president of underwriting for the same region a year later. He was then promoted to vice president of GEICO's corporate-wide claims operations in 2012. Hoagland went on to serve as regional vice president at GEICO's Buffalo regional office, where he oversaw insurance operations for New England states and New Jersey.

In Woodbury, Hoagland succeeds John Pham, who was named vice president of GEICO's Virginia Beach region and the company's military, motorcycle and recreational vehicles division.

Hoagland graduated from The College of William and Mary, and holds a B.B.A. in finance. GEICO, which was founded in 1936, provides millions of auto insurance quotes to U.S. drivers annually.
