Full slate set Monday

Examiner-Enterprise (Bartlesville, OK)

Sept. 30--Bartlesville City Councilors will have a full agenda Monday for their regular meeting, including possibly accepting the retirement of longtime City Attorney Jerry Maddux, and approving a consultant agreement with former City Manager Ed Gordon.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers of Bartlesville City Hall, 401 S. Johnstone Ave.

According to an agenda, the City Council is expected to accept Maddux's retirement effective Jan. 1. He has served as City Attorney for over 43 years. Maddux submitted a letter early last week requesting the City Council to accept his retirement. In the letter he states he will assist the council in finding a new attorney and would consult on an as-needed basis.

The City Council is also expected to enter into a consultancy agreement with Gordon, who served as city manager from 2006 until his retirement Aug. 1. According to the draft agreement, Gordon would serve through Dec. 31 at the request of City Manager Mike Bailey. The agreement says Bailey "may from time to time desire to consult with Gordon concerning existing projects and possible future projects concerning the city."

If the City Council approves the agreement, Gordon and his wife would remain covered by the city's medical insurance throughout the term of the agreement. Gordon would be required to reimburse the city on a monthly basis for the employee's share of the insurance premium.

In other business, the City Council is expected to approve several resolutions regarding the selling and maturing of general obligation bonds to pay for some projects voters approved in March 2018. Additionally, the City Council will vote on an application from Brent Taylor on behalf of Taylor Kimrey LLC for final plat approval for an 8.2-acre housing project south of Stonewall Drive and west of Washington Boulevard.

The City Council is also expected to approve the purchase of seven new patrol vehicles for the Bartlesville Police Department, computer tablets and docking stations for patrol vehicles and an agreement for runway rehabilitation at Bartlesville Municipal Airport.
