A LOOK AT SOME OF THE HEADLINES FROM NORDAK NORTH PUBLISHING'S WEEKLIES IN SAKAKAWEA COUNTRY Washburn farmer sentenced for Crop Insurance Fraud In a significant legal development, United States Attorney Mac Schneider announced that Kent Pfaff, a 60-yearold farmer from Washburn, has been sentenced to pay $379, 317 in restitution and serve three years of supervised release for committing crop insurance fraud. The sentencing took place on March 26, 2024, by U.S. District Court Judge Daniel L. Hovland, following Pfaff's guilty plea on December 20, 2023.

-Central McLean News-Journal Sheriff Corporal sent to hospital after pursuit, rollover crash near Wilton A corporal from the McLean County Sheriff's Department was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after being involved in a pursuit and crash earlier this week. According to a press release issued by the North Dakota Highway Patrol on April 1, Cpl. Raymond Copeland was traveling in his patrol vehicle at about 5 a.m. southbound on U.S. Highway 83 north of Wilton when a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Colton Lauer, 20, of Lignite approached from behind.
