Oct. 05--N.C. Mutual Life to be honored at S.C. gala

DURHAM -- N.C. Mutual Life Insurance Co., one of the nation's oldest and largest insurance company with roots in the African American community, will be honored at gala on Oct. 6 in Columbia, S.C. The gala will highlight the Historic Black Business District, also known as Black Wall Street of Columbia, and the legacy they provided for businesses today. The event is sponsored by Carolina Panorama Newspaper. Founded in 1898, N.C. Mutual Life was the founder of Black Wall Street in Durham and quickly became the gold standard of African American business in America.

Pinnacle 4th largest bank by deposits in Greensboro-High Point area

HIGH POINT -- Pinnacle Financial Partners, Inc. (NGS: PNFP) is now the fourth largest bank in the Greensboro-High Point metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in terms of deposits, according to a recent Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation report. During the 12 months ended June 30, Pinnacle added more than $92 million in deposits in the MSA. In the previous year's report, High Point Bank and Bank of North Carolina held a combined 9.8 percent market share and ranked sixth and eighth, respectively. Those firms combined in late 2016 and then merged with Pinnacle in June.

Allen Tate welcomes new agents

CHARLOTTE -- Allen Tate Co., a leading real estate company in the Carolinas, welcomed 39 agents who joined the company in September. Among its new hires are four who joined the company's Triad region, including Ashley Hazel of Greensboro, Holden Beck of High Point, LaTonya Simrel-Wright of Oak Ridge and JR Sanchez of Winston-Salem. Allen Tate, based in Charlotte, operates 44 offices in the Charlotte, Triad, Triangle and Upstate South Carolina regions.
