Free Webcast from AICPA Shows How to Use Tax Returns as Financial Roadmaps

Business Wire

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Although tax filing day has come and gone, your tax return should not be stored away and forgotten. In the context of today’s dynamic tax environment, a tax return often offers the most complete picture of an individual’s finances and therefore can be used to create a well-rounded comprehensive financial plan.

To help individuals use their tax return as a financial roadmap, 360 Degrees of Literacy and the AICPA’s Personal Financial Planning Section are offering a free consumer webcast on April 28 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. EDT. Among the topics financial planner Christine Romsdahl, CPA/PFS will discuss are planning steps to take in the current tax environment, how to ensure your retirement plan delivers, how to evaluate your investment strategy, and how to protect your assets.

Topics to be discussed are:

  • Forms 1095 A, B, and C, part of the Affordable Health Care Act—do you need to comply with the new shared responsibility payment, what fee you might have to pay if you don’t have health insurance, and do you get an additional premium tax credit or have to pay some back if you bought insurance through the health care marketplace?;
  • Late and amended Form 1099 on brokerage accounts—should you file for an extension or an amended return and do you need to file an amended return for a small adjustment?;
  • Required minimum distributions—what is your marginal tax rate on the RMD’s from your qualified accounts?; and
  • Taxes on Social Security benefits—why am I paying taxes on my Social Security benefits?

WHAT: 2016 Taxes: Start Your Money Plan Here. A CPA Financial Planner will discuss how individuals can use their tax return as a financial planning tool.

WHO: Christine Romsdahl, CPA/PFS

WHEN: Thursday, April 28, 2016, 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. ET
