Jul. 13--The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a Meadville home is under investigation by Meadville Central Fire Department and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Office.
No one was home at the time of the 12:52 a.m. Saturday fire, Meadville's Fire Chief Evan Hasko said.
The fire at the three-story home at 427 Fairmont Ave. isn't considered suspicious, but the cause hasn't been determined, Hasko told the Tribune on Sunday afternoon. Investigators will return to the fire scene this morning.
Two Meadville firefighters sustained burns while battling the blaze, but were treated at the scene, Hasko said.
The home is owned by Chad and Amanda Miller, but was rented by Amber McGuigan, Hasko confirmed, adding the Millers have insurance on the home and McGuigan has renter's insurance.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to McGuigan, according to the fire chief.
West Mead 1 and 2, Vernon Central, Hayfield Township and Saegertown volunteer departments were called in to assist Meadville in fighting the fire. Meadville Police Department and Auxiliary Police and Meadville Area Ambulance Service also aided at the scene.
Firefighters returned to service at 5:27 a.m.
