Fiduciary Trust Company and Dr. Lisa Genova Address Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease

Business Wire

A four-part video series outlines the critical steps for families affected by Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-loss conditions

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Fiduciary Trust, a private wealth manager for high-net-worth individuals, families and charitable organizations, released a video series today featuring Dr. Lisa Genova, the Harvard-trained neuroscientist and best-selling author of Still Alice. The series, produced during Alzheimer’s Awareness month in November, addresses the critical considerations and planning steps for families coping with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

The four-part video series, Planning with Alzheimer’s, includes commentary from Dr. Genova, who shares the experience of her own grandmother’s prognosis. Fiduciary Trust President and CEO, Austin V. Shapard, and Vice President and Director of Client Services, Jody King, also share their insights regarding potential financial- and estate-planning considerations for families facing Alzheimer’s.

Earlier in November, Ms. King published an accompanying white paper that drew on her extensive client experience and outlined the critical planning steps for families affected by memory loss diseases.

“With Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, early action is key to ensure that the wishes of those affected can be thoroughly articulated and followed,” said Dr. Genova. “Fiduciary Trust has deep experience in assisting families through these situations, and the video series can help initiate what may be an otherwise difficult conversation.”

“Roughly 5.3 million Americans currently suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and an estimated 15 million more provide unpaid care to affected loved ones,” said Mr. Shapard. “We’ve seen first hand just how difficult memory loss diseases can be, both on the individuals affected and on their families. As a trustee and steward for our clients’ assets, we can help navigate the uncertainty that comes with a diagnosis.”

The video series Planning with Alzheimer’s can be viewed on Fiduciary Trust’s YouTube page at www.youtube/insertlinkhere.com, while the white paper can be found here.
