WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 -- Federal Housing Finance Agency issued the following news release on Oct. 16, 2023:
In an effort to foster dialogue on the growing challenges related to the availability and affordability of property insurance, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) today announced it would host the first in a series of property insurance symposiums on November 14 and 15, 2023.
"We are looking forward to engaging with industry leaders and stakeholders on an issue that is increasingly affecting borrowers, lenders, and guarantors in housing financing," said FHFA Director Sandra L. Thompson. "As natural disasters increase in frequency, major damage to properties and infrastructure has also increased, causing stress on insurance markets."
This event will serve as a forum to exchange ideas and explore solutions that address the property insurance needs of homeowners throughout the country.
The event will be hosted in-person in Washington, D.C., with the option to attend virtually. Additional details for the symposium will be released shortly.
