Feinstein: Latest House Health Care Scheme Would Devastate Care for Millions
Congressional Documents & Publications
Washington--Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement in reaction to House Republicans' new bill to replace the Affordable Care Act:
"House Republicans today unveiled their most recent plan to eliminate the Affordable Care Act--and it's even worse than their previous ideas.
"This version is still a tax cut for the richest Americans and would cause 24 million Americans to lose their insurance. Even worse, House Republicans now want to allow insurance companies to offer plans that don't cover essential health care services, like mental health and maternity care, and charge those with pre-existing conditions much more. This includes patients with cancer and diabetes, even those with high blood pressure or cholesterol.
"It's telling that House Republicans want to return to the days when insurance companies could charge sick Americans exorbitant amounts of money for junk plans that don't even cover basic health care."
