HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) _ Everest Re Group Ltd. (RE) on Monday reported second-quarter earnings of $342.9 million.
On a per-share basis, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said it had profit of $8.39. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $7.85 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $6.66 per share.
The reinsurance company posted revenue of $2.02 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $1.99 billion.
Everest Re shares have risen 18% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $256.81, a rise of 14% in the last 12 months.
