Estate Planning in Depth Program Adds Topics for Elderly and Disabled Clients, Health Care Directives, Financial Exploitation, and Exit Strategies for Businesses

PR Newswire

PHILADELPHIA, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI CLE) is pleased to announce its annual Estate Planning in Depth CLE conference, to be held at the University of Wisconsin School of Law from June 25-30, 2017.  The faculty, comprised of national experts in estate planning, will cover a variety of tax and non-tax topics related to succession planning, including important developments from the past year.

While Estate Planning in Depth will facilitate an intensive learning experience, attendees return each year for the informal networking opportunities among faculty and registrants that are available throughout the week. The conference opens on Sunday, June 25 with an overview on wealth transfer taxation to bring less experienced attorneys up to speed. The subsequent days will dig into a wide array of complex areas that may impact the practice of any estate planner, including:

  • Planning for elderly and disabled clients
  • Fixing old trusts and dealing with trusts in divorce
  • Drafting for modern families and unmarried couples
  • International estate planning
  • Charitable trusts
  • Planning with IRAs
  • State income taxation of trusts
  • Planning with special needs trusts
  • Avoiding planning mistakes with life insurance
  • Nuptial agreements
  • Business exit and succession planning

"Estate Planning in Depth covers estate planning from both the vertical and horizontal axes:  on the vertical axis, it provides a deep dive into the subject matter at hand, so the attendee gains a wealth of knowledge on a particular subject matter," said Stuart Bear, faculty co-chair and shareholding partner at Chestnut Cambronne in Minnesota.  "On the horizontal axis, the week-long course addresses a wide range of subject matters, touching on virtually all aspects of an estate planning practice.  In all, the Estate Planning in Depth course is just that:  estate planning in depth in all aspects of estate planning.  At the end of the week, you will become an even better estate planner."
