DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ EMC Insurance Group Inc. (EMCI) on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $33.5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Des Moines, Iowa-based company said it had net income of $1.55. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, were 72 cents per share.
The insurance holding company posted revenue of $181.6 million in the period.
EMC Insurance Group shares have increased slightly more than 1% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 24% in the last 12 months.
