Pennington was one of the women leaders honored from companies on FORTUNE magazine's annual list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For and Best Workplaces for Women. The awards were announced by Great Place to Work at a gala on March 7, the eve of the 107th International Women's Day, in San Francisco.

Edward Jones ranked No. 5 on FORTUNE magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work for 2018 and No. 3 on the Best Workplaces for Women list, also by FORTUNE magazine and the Great Place to Work.

Pennington was nominated by Edward Jones Managing Partner Jim Weddle for being a leader who has consistently played a critical role in helping the firm deliver on strategic growth and business goals by creating a high-trust culture and a great place to work.

"Penny has distinguished herself as a thought leader at Edward Jones," Weddle said. "She originally joined our firm as a financial advisor in Michigan, and she applies her deep understanding of the client experience to her current role leading the Client Strategies Group where she is responsible for the solutions we deliver to clients, enabling them to reach their financial goals."

Pennington joined Edward Jones in 1999 and in 2006 was named a principal and relocated to the firm's headquarters in St. Louis. She served first in the Branch Development division, where she was a champion of developing the talent and leadership skills of the firm's financial advisors and branch office administrators.

Pennington is a member of the firm's Executive, Management and Audit committees and is a board member of the Edward Jones Trust Company. She also is a senior executive sponsor of the firm's LGBTA Business Resource Group.

"We are excited to celebrate the achievements of some of the top women leaders at America's greatest companies," said Great Place to Work CEO Michael C. Bush. "The companies on FORTUNE's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For and Best Workplaces for Women are leading the conversation in workplace equality and are demonstrating to corporate America how to become more diverse, more innovative, and great places to work for all."
