Davis and Taylorville Fire Chief Look Back at Taylorville Tornado and State of the Union

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 -- Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Illinois, issued the following news release:

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today released two videos highlighting the tornado that struck Davis' hometown of Taylorville on December 1st and the efforts by many who helped minimize the damage of the storm and continue to help the community rebuild.

Taylorville Fire Chief Mike Crews was Davis' guest to President Trump's second State of the Union address two weeks ago bringing national attention to the important work of our first responders and the need to help our smaller communities through Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), which received $350 million in the funding bill passed last week.

Taylorville Fire Department received a $3,400 grant in 2018 for training for other local departments and protection districts. They also received a $3,000 grant in 2017 for additional training.
