CONGRESSMAN SOTO’S STATEMENT ON POSTPONED TRUMPCARE VOTE
Congressional Documents & Publications
WASHINGTON, D.C - U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09) released the following statement today after the House of Representatives delayed voting to replace and repeal the Affordable Care Act. The House has postponed the vote as Republicans attempt to find the 216 votes they need--but don't have--to pass TrumpCare.
"While not holding a vote on this disastrous TrumpCare bill is a true act of mercy, we cannot rest. This is only a tactical retreat," Soto said. "This bill started terrible by raising premiums by 15 to 20% for families across the country and throwing 24 million people off healthcare entirely. And the bill has only gotten worse as the Republicans have moved farther right. As they try harder and harder to appease the most extreme elements of their party, more Americans will suffer - they may do even more to shorten the life of Medicare, to increase costs for working families that are already set to go up thousands of dollars a year, to hurt students who would lose the coverage they currently have under their parents' plans, and to continue to raise healthcare costs for virtually every American."
Congressman Darren Soto represents Florida's9th Congressional District, which includes Osceola County, as well as parts of Orange and Polk counties.
