Competition is at the Heart of a Good Health Care System

WASHINGTON, March 22 -- House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., issued the following statement on House passage of the Competitive Health Insurance Reform Act (H.R. 372):

"Under Obamacare, the health insurance marketplace has consolidated to a great degree. As competition has declined, consumers have been left with fewer options and rising costs.

"By eliminating anti-trust protection for insurance providers, this legislation will help create the groundwork for competition that was decimated by Obamacare, paving the way for more choice and more affordable health insurance.

"As part of phase three of our health care reform agenda, this legislation is an important step to achieve our goals and create an accessible, patient-centered health care system."
