Companies make large donations, take other actions, to help wildfire victims

Aug. 02--Sutter Health and Wells Fargo on Wednesday each announced that they each pledged large donations for fire relief efforts in California.

Sutter donated $100,000 to help those affected by the Carr and Mendocino Complex fires, while Wells Fargo & Company announced its donating $125,000 for relief efforts, including $100,000 for the American Red Cross, and $25,000 for United Way in Northern California.

The funds will help support disaster relief operations and provide immediate care and supplies to individuals affected by the wildfires, they said.

Sutter Health's donation will go to the American Red Cross California Wildfires Fund, to help bring food, water and emergency shelter to the families affected by this summer's wildfires, company officials said.

Wells Fargo encourages customers experiencing hardship as a result of the wildfires to contact Wells Fargo Customer Support at the number on their credit card, debit card, or statement to discuss their options. Affected customers can also contact their banker by visiting their nearest Wells Fargo branch. Additionally, through August 14, customers who wish to support the American Red Cross's California wildfire relief efforts may do so by using any Wells Fargo ATM in California and selecting the option to donate. There is no fee for this service and 100 percent of contributions will be sent to the American Red Cross.

Sutter Health is also actively supporting its employees and physicians by:

--Providing support to Sutter Health staff and physicians who need it; including financial aid, disaster recovery pay, prescription assistance and other employee assistance support ranging from insurance claims help to mental health resources.

--Opening the Sutter Health Employee Disaster Relief Fund, that accepts monetary donations from employees and the community that can help employees who are significantly impacted by current and future large-scale disasters.
