Blood drive in honor of Arthur Wade The next blood drive in Bryson City will be at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, at the fellowship hall on Thursday, June 16, 3:30-8 p.m. This is a blood drive in honor of Arthur Wade, a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam, who received three Purple Hearts for his service. Wade, who died in September 2021, was a long-time resident of Whittier, an enrolled member of Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Winchester reunion The Winchester Family will have a reunion on Sunday, June 12 at noon at the big shelter in Deep Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Bring your favorite covered dish, dessert and drink.

Education board Swan County Board of Education will have a meeting on Monday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Swain County Administration Building (50 Main Street), third floor auditorium.
