Cliff Titcomb Retires as Hannover Re US Medical Director; Nico van Zyl Named as Successor

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America “Hannover Re US” announced today that Dr. Cliff Titcomb, Vice President, Medical Director has retired, effective May 26, 2017. Nico van Zyl will assume the role as Assistant Vice President, Medical Director, effective January 1, 2017.

After 30 years in the insurance business, Cliff has announced his retirement. After graduating from Georgetown University as a medical doctor, Cliff held a number of high level positions with insurance companies and industry associations including being president of AAIM (American Academy of Insurance Medicine). He has presented at numerous industry meetings and published a number of medical and underwriting related articles. Kevin Oldani, Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriter commented, “Cliff will be remembered by most underwriters as an educator, an outstanding case consultant and wonderful colleague to the underwriters. He has increased the knowledge of underwriters throughout North America. Cliff will be missed and we all appreciate the value he brought to the underwriting community and to Hannover Re.”

Hannover Re US welcomes Nico van Zyl as Assistant Vice President, Medical Director. Nico joined Hannover Re US in January 2017 to assume the role from Cliff. Nico joined the US organization from the Hannover Re branch in South Africa where he was Chief Medical Officer for the past seven years. Nico holds a medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg, South Africa. “Nico’s experience as medical director and his work in innovation projects including automated underwriting systems and new product development will assist Hannover Re US’ strategy going forward,” commented Kevin Oldani, Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriter. Nico will be based in the Denver office.
