CASSIDY DELIVERS FLOOR SPEECH CALLING ON DEMOCRATS TO WORK TOGETHER TO LOWER FAMILIES' HEALTH COSTS

The following information was released by Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy:
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) delivered a speech on the U.S. Senate floor urging Democrats to work together on real solutions to make health care affordable for the American people. Specifically, he criticized the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits, which funnel billions of taxpayer dollars to giant insurance companies with no incentive to lower the cost of health premiums.
In the speech, Cassidy proposed an idea to give these credits directly to patients and empower them to manage their own health care decisions. President Trump has repeatedlycalled onCongress to end these subsidies that pad the profits of insurance companies, and instead give these resources directly to patients. The President has also spoken in support of Cassidy's idea as an alternative.
"Obamacare has tried to make health care affordable by throwing more money at insurance companies. But, that doesn't make health care cheaper; it makes health insurance more expensive for many,"said Dr. Cassidy."Instead of paying insurance companies to manage more of our money, let's trust Americans to manage those extra dollars and manage their own care with a pre-funded Federal Flexible Spending Account."
"Let's fix health care, and let's give the patient the power,"continued Dr. Cassidy.
