Caitlyn Jenner to reportedly pay $800G to family of five caught up in deadly car crash

New York Daily News, The (NY)

Jan. 25--Caitlyn Jenner reportedly will pay $800,000 to the family of five caught up in the reality star's deadly four-car pileup three years ago.

The "I Am Cait" star will pay the bulk of the settlement -- $500,000 -- to Elga Maurer, the 73-year-old grandmother who was sitting in the back seat of her family's Hummer H2 when it was struck head-on during the chain-reaction collision, documents obtained by TheBlast.com said.

Maurer suffered a cervical spine fracture in her neck, her law firm previously said.

Peter and Lea Wolf-Millesi, the parents riding in the front seat of the vehicle, will each receive $100,000, according to The Blast.

Their two young sons, one of whom was 4-weeks-old at the time of the crash, will each receive $50,000.

Insurance reportedly will cover part of the settlement.

A Grammy-nominated pianist and composer, Peter Wolf-Millesi allegedly suffered nerve damage to both hands and wrists in the crash, his lawyers said.

Lea Wolf-Millesi, a model and lyricist, had injuries to both legs along with her neck and back, the lawyers said.

Jenner was not charged in the crash but Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials determined she was driving at an unsafe speed on February 7, 2015, when her Cadillac Escalade -- which was towing a trailer with an all-terrain vehicle on it -- rear-ended a Lexis driven by Kim Howe in Malibu, Calif.

Howe's car was launched into the oncoming lane of the Pacific Coast Highway and collided head-on with the Wolf-Millesi's Hummer.

Howe, a 69-year-old widow, died at the scene.

"All of a sudden a car comes into our lane from oncoming traffic and rushes onto our hood. We were shocked and terrified we were all going to die," Peter said in a statement after the crash.

"When you're involved in an accident that claimed the life of someone, you're just not the same anymore. So many lives have been changed forever," Lea said.

Jenner previously settled lawsuits with Howe's stepchildren and a woman who was driving a Prius that also got rear-ended.

Attempts to reach a spokesman for Jenner were not immediately successful.

A lawyer representing the Wolf-Millesi family at the firm Panish Shea & Boyle declined to comment, citing confidentiality.
