CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Brighthouse Financial Inc. (BHF) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $384 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of $3.27 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.56 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.23 per share.
The annuity and life insurance company posted revenue of $2.37 billion in the period.
Brighthouse Financial shares have risen 11% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $33.84, a fall of 23% in the last 12 months.
