BRIEF: U.S. Sen. Casey urges Trump to give aid for NEPA blizzard cleanup
Times-Tribune (Scranton, PA)
April 07--U.S. Sen. Bob Casey asked the Trump administration today to make a presidential disaster declaration to provide emergency funding for the Blizzard of 2017 cleanup.
Under Federal Emergency Management Agency rules, the region's $11.6 million two-day cleanup costs during the March 14-15 storm that dumped two feet or more of snow on the area fell short of the agency's $18.2 million threshold to unlock disaster aid.
"This snow storm severely impacted the Northeast region ... and the damages far surpass the commonwealth's and local community's resources and capabilities to successfully recover," the Democrat wrote.
