BRIEF: Traffic check points planned in Lexington on Tuesday

Aug. 14--LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- Drivers in the Town of Lexington will see an added police presence on Tuesday.
The Lexington Police Department will conduct a public safety checkpoint in the area of town in response to collision incidents, citizen traffic complaints, and previous enforcement -- including speeding and unsafe driving practices.
All drivers who enter a checkpoint will be stopped and checked for a valid drivers license, vehicle registration, and insurance requirements. They will also be checked for possible impairment, seat belt use, proper child restraint use and any other possible violations that might be visible to officers.
In a news release, the Lexington Police Department says it's committed to ensuring safer roadways within the Town of Lexington through enforcement and education.
