BRIEF: Toledoan gets prison time for setting home on fire

June 07--A Toledo man who set fire to a central city home then filed a renter's insurance claim was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison.

Dalon Coffey, 27, of the 1900 block of Clarendon Street entered Alford pleas -- not admitting guilt -- April 13 to attempted aggravated arson and insurance fraud for a Nov. 3 fire at 905 Heston St. No one was home at the time but the fire caused some $28,500 in damages.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Lindsay Navarre said that when Coffey is released from prison, he is to serve three years on community control beginning with 90 days in the Lucas County Work Release Program followed by 90 days on electronic monitoring. Coffey also must register as an arson offender for the rest of his life.
