BRIEF: Melania Trump loses the stilettos after Twitter ridicule
Contra Costa Times (Walnut Creek, CA)
Aug. 29--When President Trump and first lady Melania Trump left Washington Tuesday morning to tour the devastation wrought on Texas by Hurricane Harvey, the president was dressed in his business-casual best with a suit, no tie and a trademark USA baseball cap.
The internet, however, took immediate notice of Melania's 4-inch stiletto heels.
Twitter users took her to task, suggesting that stiletto heels were not the best footwear to tour a disaster zone.
Perhaps the impressively tall footwear was simply for the walk from the White House to Marine One?
Apparently someone on the first lady's staff was paying attention to Twitter. Not only did her office release a statement criticizing the attention paid to her footwear, but by the time the first couple arrived in Texas, Melania walked off the plane in a more sensible pair of white tennis shoes. She was also rocking a FLOTUS hat.
No word on whether the Melania-specific headgear is for sale or not.
