Hawk Eye, The (Burlington, IA)
Aug. 25--People's Mutual Insurance Association of Donnellson will celebrate 125 years of business this Saturday with a meal for policy holders.
The association was founded Feb. 28, 1892, by a group of farmers who felt like the insurance industry did not address their needs. Many farmers were victimized by traveling salesmen, and most insurance companies at the time were on the East Coast or the West Coast.
Today, the association has more than 2,100 policy holders in 11 counties, and has more than $628 million of insured assets.
The meal will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Learning Center building on the Lee County Fairgrounds in Donnellson. Advance reservations are requested. For more information, call (319) 835-5312.
