BRIEF: Guidelines issued for debris removal in Limestone County

March 20--ATHENS -- The Limestone County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following guidelines for dealing with storm debris:
--Check with your insurance company regarding the removal of construction debris.
--Vegetative debris, such as trees and limbs, may be disposed of by using the following methods:
1. Burn debris on property. Be sure a no-burn order is not in effect.
2. Take debris to a landfill or transfer station.
3. Pile debris on the backside of the ditch, away from the road. Do not place debris in ditches or on roads. Do not block hydrants or mailboxes.
--Construction/building materials should be separated from vegetative debris and piled on the backside of the ditch, away from the road.
--White goods, such as appliances, propane tanks and household hazardous wastes, such as paint, bleach and pesticide, must be properly disposed of by the homeowner.
