May 31--BELLEFONTE -- Fire crews were able to quickly subdue a two-alarm blaze early Sunday at the Uni-Mart convenience store in Bellefonte.
The fire started around 7:30 a.m. at the store located on West Lamb Street, owner Sanjay Patel said. Two customers were in the store when the fire began in the back office.
Patel said he was able to alert the customers to the fire and evacuate the store with no injuries.
Fire crews from Undine, Logan, Pleasant Gap, Milesburg and Alpha Fire companies responded. Undine Fire Chief Jim Pressler said the blaze thoroughly damaged the interior of the store. Fire marshals will be investigating the cause.
Pressler confirmed no one had come forward with injuries.
Patel said he hoped his insurance will cover the damages.
