BRIEF: Deadline approaching for those in need of FEMA assistance

The deadline to register for disaster assistance from FEMA is quickly approaching.
More than 5,000 Virginians have registered with FEMA for disaster assistance to recover from Hurricane Matthew and flood damage, according to a news release from FEMA.
More than $8.6 million has been approved for eligible disaster survivors. The deadline to register for assistance is Jan. 3.
More than $11.9 million has been approved by the Small Business Administration and more than $41 million from the National Flood Insurance Program.
The deadline for a physical disaster loan with the SBA is also Jan. 3.
FEMA has visited more than 10,380 homes and more than 440 businesses according to the release. The agency has also met with more than 2,600 people at disaster recovery centers.

Tues, Dec. 27- Fri. Dec. 309 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sat., Dec. 319 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tues.: Jan. 39 a.m. to 6 p.m.
