Contra Costa Times (Walnut Creek, CA)
July 15--CONCORD -- The City Council on Tuesday selected Tim McGallian to replace longtime City Treasurer Thomas Wentling, who resigned earlier this month.
McGallian will complete the remainder of Wentling's term, which expires in 2018.
The treasurer receives a $7,200 annual stipend and medical benefits.
Mayor Tim Grayson and council members Laura Hoffmeister and Ron Leone voted for McGallian, a business underwriting specialist at State Farm Insurance. Council members Dan Helix and Edi Birsan voted for Eric Maldonado, a community and government relations officer at Travis Credit Union in Clayton.
After his selection, McGallian resigned from the Planning Commission, where he has served since 2010. McGallian, who has lived in Concord for 12 years, is founder and president of the Todos Santos Business Association Arts Foundation. For the past two years, the foundation has organized the city's Fourth of July celebration.
