Aug. 02--Two Vallejo men were arrested after a bizarre hit-and-run collision Tuesday night in Vallejo.
The incident began when a blue Mercedes Benz SUV hit a silver Ford Taurus near the intersection of Florida Street and Lincoln Road East at about 8:45 p.m., Vallejo Police Department Lt. Herman Robinson said.
Police received a report of the two drivers engaged in a verbal argument.
The Mercedes driver, later identified as Mervin Pagtanac, 32, was unable to provide proof of car insurance to the other driver, and fled the scene before officers could arrive, Robinson explained.
Witnesses told authorities that a brief time later, Pagtanac, along with his passenger, Markenrique Valdez, 24, returned to the scene, and both began pushing the Mercedes away from the collision site.
Robinson said the pair had previously consumed alcoholic beverages.
Pagtanac was arrested for hit-and-run, DUI, and probation violation and he was booked into the Solano County jail. Meanwhile, Valdez was cited for interfering in an investigation and public intoxication.
The driver of the Ford, a 24-year-old Benicia man, cooperated with police, Robinson said.
