BRIEF: 3 Lexington residents accused in insurance fraud case

Feb. 18--The N.C. Department of Insurance on Friday arrested three Lexington residents and charged them with insurance fraud.

Timothy Wayne Johnson, 55, and Sherry Saunders Johnson, 53, both of 1410 Holly Grove Road; and Don Seamon, 60, of 270 Edgewood Drive are accused of filing fraudulent claims against State Farm Insurance.

They are accused of starting a fire in a structure owned by a woman for whom they controlled assets on July 4 and providing false information to claim about $14,800 in insurance payment, according to a Department of Insurance news release.

Authorities arrested all three Tuesday. They are being held in the Davidson County Jail on $500,000 bail each.

Timothy Johnson faces charges of second-degree arson, fraudulently burning a building or dwelling, felony aid and abet, insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, embezzlement, felony conspiracy and exploitation of an older adult.

Sherry Johnson faces charges of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, embezzlement, felony conspiracy and exploitation of an older adult.

Seamon faces a charge of second-degree arson and two felony charges of aid and abet.
