Undocumented people who enter our country need a whole host of things such as food, housing, health care, education and a job.
People who already live here need those things too and when I look at pictures of cities such as New York and San Francisco, it seems to me that we are not doing a very good job of taking care of our own citizens.
I can't help but wonder why the open door policy is still in effect.
We are deeply in debt, yet we say "come one, come all."
When will this stop? Does it stop when we become another Venezuela? Does it stop when we can't possibly pay our national debt?
Current policies are not fair to people who live here. For example, let's talk about health care. Some of my relatives pay $800 a month for health insurance that has a $5,000 deductible — but the new immigrants will receive free medical care because they have no money and we must be compassionate when it comes to health.
I am the daughter of two immigrants and they had to pass a health exam and prove that they had a sponsor or a job. They both had jobs within two days of arriving here.
The border is a mess. For heaven's sake, Mr. President, close the border.
