SYDNEY, Australia, March 22 -- The Insurance Council of Australia issued the following news release:
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will host its second policyholder event in Berowra in early April. The Berowra forum will provide claims guidance to those affected by the December 20, 2018 hailstorm.
The forum will be held on Tuesday April 2 from 6-8pm, with one-on-one consultations available from noon.
Forum registration is essential. Visit www.disasters.org.au or call 1800 734 621.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan said: "Insurers have received 129,756 claims to date, with losses at $1.189 billion. About 80 per cent of claims are for householders with 35,763 domestic home claims and 82,709 domestic motor claims.
"It's now three months since the destructive hailstorm swept across Sydney. Residents needing to discuss their claim can be assisted by the ICA team and the insurers attending the forum."
Mr Whelan said insurance company representatives would attend the forum to talk to their customers, and assist with individual claims.
The forum is for policyholders who have lodged a claim. The forum is not a public meeting and the proceedings are not open to media. This preserves the privacy of the policyholders attending.
