CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Bank of America is facing a new lawsuit that accuses the bank of financially supporting Jeffrey Epstein's alleged sex trafficking operation.
It came just one week after Democrats on Capitol Hill demanded BofA hand over any records of business with Epstein.
"We know that there were a billion-and-a-half dollars' worth of suspicious financial transactions that were flagged by the banks," said Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin.
In the lawsuit filed Wednesday, an unnamed female plaintiff claimed the financial institution supported and profited from Epstein's alleged sex trafficking, arguing the bank knowingly accepted deposits from Epstein that were tied to illegal activity.
The suit also alleged that the bank earned interest, commissions, and service fees from the operation's revenue.
While the suit is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, Reuters reported that a $290 million settlement was recently reached with JPMorgan over its alleged ties to Epstein.
A spokesperson for Bank of America declined to comment on the suit.
