APCIA's Sampson Named to Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission

WASHINGTON, July 8 (TNSpol) -- The American Property Casualty Insurance Association issued the following news release:

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) expressed appreciation for APCIA President and CEO David A. Sampson's selection to the Biden-Harris Administration's Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission.

"I'm so honored to have the Administration's confidence to help improve federal programs to better prevent, mitigate, suppress, and manage wildland fires and restore impacted lands," said Sampson. "Property casualty insurers are on the frontlines following natural disasters such as wildfires, assisting policyholders in navigating the recovery process and helping their customers rebuild their lives and restore their property. For decades, APCIA members have advocated for policies and increased investments that help prevent and reduce such devastation. I look forward to being part of this critical commission."

The commission was created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, which was enacted in December 2021. Members of the commission include representatives from federal agencies, state, local, and Tribal governments, as well as the private sector.

Before joining APCIA, Sampson served as Deputy Secretary of Commerce in the George W. Bush Administration. He previously served as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development. Sampson has decades of service at the state and federal levels, as well as private sector experience, including working with local governments and businesses.
