ARLINGTON, Virginia, Oct. 10 -- Americans for Prosperity issued the following statement by Policy Manager David Barnes:

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today applauded the rejection in the U.S. Senate of S. J. Res 63, a measure that would have stripped quality, affordable health plans from millions of Americans. AFP previously announced it would score today's vote on its official congressional scorecard and urged Senators to vote "No."
"While we applaud the senators who voted to protect new opportunities for millions of Americans to access affordable health insurance plans that work for them, we are also extremely disappointed to see a near-majority vote to make it harder for people to get covered.
"The Trump administration did the right thing when it expanded flexible, short-term health insurance plans this summer.
"Instead of wasting time with these senseless stunts, lawmakers should work together to advance market-based, patient-centered reforms that will help more Americans access quality health care."
