American Property Casualty Insurance Association: Michigan Lawmakers Should Oppose Legislation Attempting to Thwart 2019 No-Fault Auto Insurance Reforms

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today issued the following statement, attributed to its vice president of state government and political relations Adam Shores, opposing House Bill 4486 by Rep. Doug Wozniak.
"House Bill 4486 is an attempt to thwart the reforms to Michigan's no-fault auto insurance system that were put in place by lawmakers two years ago, which are already resulting in savings to consumers. If lawmakers stay the course and let the 2019 reforms fully set in, Michigan drivers will continue to reap the benefits.
"A critical part of the 2019 reforms is the enactment of a medical fee schedule, which takes effect this summer, and would help put an end to abusive overcharging by certain medical providers for their services. House Bill 4486 is an effort by long term care providers who do not want to see their profit margins shrink when the medical fee schedule goes into effect.
