AM Best Withdraws Credit Ratings of JSC Insurance Company Centras Insurance
The ratings reflect Centras’ balance sheet strength, which AM Best categorises as adequate, as well as its marginal operating performance, very limited business profile and weak enterprise risk management.
Centras’ balance sheet strength is underpinned by risk-adjusted capitalisation, as measured by Best Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR), at the strong level at year-end 2018. However, risk-adjusted capitalisation is volatile and it deteriorated during the year due to an increase in the company’s underwriting risk. AM Best expects prospective BCAR scores to remain strong; however, they are dependent on the company’s ability to support increased capital requirements through retention of earnings.
