Allred Condemns Attack on Americans’ Health Care in Federal Court

WASHINGTON, July 9 -- Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, issued the following news release:

Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today joined colleagues in the House and Senate to tell the stories of people across America that would be harmed if the Trump Administration's lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act is successful. The event happened as the Fifth Circuit today began to hear oral arguments in the federal lawsuit seeking to invalidate the Affordable Care Act in its entirety.

"On day one in this Congress, I introduced a bipartisan resolution that put the U.S. House back on the side of people and protecting their health care in federal court," said Allred. "As the Trump Administration continues to attack the Affordable Care Act, and with it, vital protections for people with pre-existing conditions, I am dedicated to fighting every day to stop the sabotage and work with my colleagues to lower costs for everyone."

Allred shared the story and held a photo of Rob and Debbie Rose of Rowlett, Texas, who over the years, were able to purchase a reliable health care plan on the individual market thanks to the Affordable Care Act. Allred's record on health care:

Allred passed a bipartisan resolution on January 9 that authorized the House to intervene as a party in the Texas lawsuit seeking to undermine the Affordable Care Act. In April, Allred also passed a bipartisan resolution condemning the Trump Administration's attempts to repeal the entirety of the Affordable Care Act in federal court.

Allred is a cosponsor of the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions & Making Health Care More Affordable Act of 2019. A bill that will stabilize the individual health care marketplace, reverse partisan sabotage of the Affordable Care Act and bring down health care costs for consumers.
