Wealth Management Veteran Logan Winn Joins Abbot Downing

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Investment Weekly News -- Logan Winn, a Washington, D.C., wealth manager for high-net-worth clients, has joined Steve Berardi, a 20-year veteran in investment portfolio management, to serve Abbot Downing's growing client base in the Greater Washington, D.C., area. Winn and Berardi, who joined the firm last year, had previously worked as a team at GenSpring Family Offices. Abbot Downing, with $38 billion in client assets, is part of Wells Fargo's Wealth, Brokerage and Retirement group, a leading U.S. wealth manager, with $1.7 trillion in client assets. Abbot Downing was named the "Best National Private Wealth Manager" by Family Wealth Report in 2014.

Winn and Berardi will work closely with a team of Abbot Downing and Wells Fargo professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Region that includes D.C., Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. Together, they will provide planning and family dynamics services, asset management, private banking, trust, fiduciary and administrative services to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, as well as foundations and endowments.

Winn will serve as a relationship manager, based in the firm's McLean, Va., office. Before joining Abbot Downing and Wells Fargo, Winn was a family wealth advisor at GenSpring, where she managed ultra-high-net-worth multi-generational relationships, including estate and financial planning, fiduciary matters, and wealth education. Prior to her role at GenSpring, Winn was a partner at the D.C. - based law firm, Jackson and Campbell, where she worked with clients on sophisticated estate plans. Earlier in her career, she counseled clients on estate plans at the law firms of Holland & Knight and Kauffman and Forman. Winn obtained her bachelor of arts from the University of Richmond, her juris doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law, and her LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the Washington, D.C., Estate Planning Council and was named a "Top Money Advisor" in the Washingtonian in 2012 and 2014.

"We are delighted to have Logan and Steve's depth and breadth of experience working together as a team," said Joe Freeman, Abbot Downing regional managing director for the Mid-Atlantic Region. "Successful individuals and families are looking for wealth managers who can see the big picture perspective to help them grow and use their wealth to positively impact their families and their communities."

Prior to joining Abbot Downing, Berardi worked for 11 years at GenSpring, where he managed investment portfolios for ultra-high-net-worth-clients. Berardi also served as co-head of the firm's portfolio construction committee and part of the business development team. Prior to GenSpring, Berardi was director of investments for Arthur Andersen, where he was responsible for designing and implementing investment policies and growing the firm's alternative investment strategies. Berardi obtained his bachelor of finance and marketing degree from Drexel University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute and the Washington Society of Investment Analysts.
