Aon Corp. has enlisted Verizon Business to create and manage an integrated "borderless enterprise" solution that will consolidate Aon's regional network operations spanning 120 countries into a single global communications and IT platform. As a result, the leading global provider of risk management and human capital consulting will be able to more effectively conduct business among its extended enterprise of employees, customers, suppliers and partners.
Under a new three-year, $70 million agreement, Verizon Business is providing a modern, managed IP network that will serve as the foundation for a range of integrated communications and IT services to better equip 36,000 Aon colleagues across 500 locations to be more productive and responsive to the company's customers worldwide.
The services will include voice over IP (VoIP), data center services, application hosting and remote application hosting, and IP-based contact center services. Verizon VoIP services will serve as a foundation for additional unified communications and collaboration capabilities, such as Web-based conferencing to the desktop.
To protect corporate assets and sensitive employee and customer data, Aon will rely on Verizon Business' leading managed security services to maintain the integrity of the company's network-intrusion detection and prevention systems and safeguard its core network firewalls.
In addition, Verizon Business' expert technology consultants are providing strategic planning, network design and security assessment services to ensure that Verizon's global managed solution specifically supports Aon's business priorities.
"As a united and truly global firm, Aon is investing in the technology necessary to support our worldwide network and enhance the ability of our teams to deliver value to clients," said Adam Stanley, chief technology officer for Aon. "Verizon Business has been an invaluable partner as we undergo our IT transformation.
"As the leader in delivering risk management and workforce productivity solutions to our clients, we recognize how the efficient use of technology can simplify how our colleagues get their work done, improve customer response times and take costs out of the business. This new global platform will serve at the heart of our business for enabling uninterrupted, reliable and secure business processes that keep Aon's progress and momentum moving around the globe."
Practicing what it advocates to its own clients, Aon is also employing Verizon Business' professional consultants to strengthen its business continuity plans and maintain continued operations during natural disasters and other unforeseen circumstances. Aon is equipping every employee with remote access and secure authentication capabilities to access company systems and maintain uninterrupted business operations.
