Velos Annual Meeting Draws Record Audience for Clinical Research Thought Leadership Presentations and Success Story Sharing

SAN FRANCISCO, May 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Velos, Inc. this week hosted a constellation of prestigious academic medical centers, research institutions, investigative leaders and industry partners at its annual meeting in San Francisco. Mark Hagland, Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Informatics Magazine, delivered the keynote address. Hagland shared insights about current issues in healthcare information management, such as Meaningful Use, HITECH and other elements of the Health Care Reform Act.

Velos customers gathered to discuss a variety of initiatives and to hear speakers from such institutions as the University of TexasMD Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Miami and Duke University. Presenters also included the National Marrow Donor Program, for which Velos is supplying its new Product Fulfillment and Clinical Data Repository (CDR) System. Presenters shared their achievements using Velos eResearch, Velos eIRB and Velos eSample to bring quality and efficiency to programs of clinical research and patient care.

The announcement from Velos to provide 24 x 7 support to their customers was one aspect of an enhanced communications initiative with the Velos user community. Velos unveiled the latest release of their flagship product, Velos eResearch v8.10, which included significant feature enhancements and major improvements to the overall user experience. Several sessions with their customers, who are leaders in clinical research, were focused around future product direction and strategy.

"This year's attendance was higher than at any of our previous conferences," said John S. McIlwain, President and CEO of Velos. "We're delighted to have such a high quality group of professionals participate in this gathering – and to hear them express the fact that they are using the very best system available. It's gratifying to think that Velos can contribute with its ever-advancing systems for medical research."

Velos eResearch customers receive over 50 percent of the NIH extramural medical research funding to the 100 largest such recipients—the largest such share among clinical trial management system software vendors. The Velos eResearch customer base includes 21 top 25 U.S. medical centers and two thirds of the "Honor Roll" in the U.S. News & World Report 2008 Best Hospitals Survey.
