Home Health Company Adds Integrated Delivery of Home Care to Univita’s Capabilities
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Univita Health, an organization focused on providing the full range of services and support needed to enable a home-centered approach to independent aging, announced the acquisition of leading home care provider Atenda Healthcare Solutions, Inc. and its affiliated companies, including Florida Home Medical Equipment, Inc.
“Bringing together non-clinical and clinical home care into one integrated offering is foundational to the Univita strategy,” said Hugh Lytle, president and chief executive officer of Univita. “The addition of Atenda means we are uniquely positioned to provide this full range of services.”
Atenda is one of the largest home health benefit management companies, providing care and exclusively managing more than 1.3 million lives. Atenda is used by major health plans as a single point of contact for managing all home care services, resulting in improved care and cost savings to plans and their members.
“We recognize that Atenda’s unique ability to assume risk for home care costs is meaningful to health plans and other providers due to the industry’s increased emphasis on paying for outcomes,” said Bruce Baude, chief operating officer for Univita.
Univita is transforming home-based care by integrating the full range of in-home care needs from basic caregiving through complex home health care, all supported by the latest communication technologies. Univita provides a wide range of services that make the home a safe, comfortable place for people to age, reducing the need for medical interventions in a clinical setting such as a hospital or nursing home. In addition to servicing in-home care needs such as home health care, infusion therapy and home medical equipment, the company will also provide personalized assessments, decision support tools and financial planning and support.
“We are very excited to be joining forces with Univita,” said Guillermo Salazar, Atenda’s chief executive officer and founder. “Together we will be better able to extend our unique model and deliver an improved approach to home care across new markets.”
Atenda has a broad base of home care professionals coordinating and rendering care to patients in the convenience of their homes. Atenda is also a third party administrator that processes claims received from their network of home care providers.
“Our integrated delivery of home health care services, home nursing, infusion therapy and durable medical equipment simplifies the home care process for health plans and their members,” said Rene Valverde, president of Florida Home Medical Equipment, Inc. “And our approach provides benefits to discharge planners and case managers as well.”
